Raphael Vineyard Wedding: Meghan and Sebastian

Meghan and Sebastian got married at the Raphael Vineyard in Long Island, NY. I have to be honest with you… I had no idea there were vineyards in Long Island. Now I can’t get enough of them. The day was slightly chilly and the vines were bare, but it was nice to see the lines of soon to be life… trees, hibernating… awaiting to be fruitful. The day was filled with love and laughter and of course… lots of wine!

NYC Wedding: Maya + Steve

On Maya and Steve’s big day, Maya and her bridesmaids got ready at Bergdorf Goodman. Yes… the Bergdorf Goodman. It was elegant and fun, fashionably appropriate for the bride who wore Vera Wang.

Maya and Steve opted for the first look to happen just outside Bergdorf. An entire crowd waited to see and it was instantly a New York moment.

We headed over to DUMBO for some quick photos on the carousel and by the Brooklyn Bridge. There was snow on the ground and it was absolutely dreamy…

The ceremony and reception was held at Shaare Zion in Brooklyn and it was such a blast!

City Hall

A couple of years ago, I went to City Hall with my buddy Chan and we got hitched. April 1st. How would we ever forget that anniversary date What started out as a gathering of just our parents and siblings ended up getting bigger and bigger and before we knew it, there were about 30 people. Any excuse to party, am I right?

The process was super quick… I guess we were the only ones to think getting married on April Fools Day was funny in a fun way. Which brings me to this… How do you pick a date to get married at City Hall? The answer… when you want. This day is so free, so chill… stressing over it simply is not worth it. That’s not to say we didn’t take it seriously. We planned, coordinated with our family (who informed the wedding crashers haha), and went with the flow. It’s City Hall for crying out loud… have fun!

NYC Engagement: Sally + Landis

It’s not everyday that I get an inquiry from a guy. Most of my inquiries are from super gnarly ladies. So when Landis first contacted me, I swooned. Swooned not because he was asking me to document his proposal… I swooned because I could hear/feel/read how smitten he was. The man was in love. Hard. He told me of his soon-to-be fiancé, Sally, and it took all my might to act oh so cool in my email. “Yeah, definitely… I’m available and would be honored to photograph your proposal.” What I actually was thinking was “oh my goodness, oh my goodness. You totally get sweetest guy award and I love you and Sally already!” The first response was better right? Yeah, I thought so too.

Then came the day of the shoot… a chill Saturday with a slight overcast. We met up in the West Village and just before we began, Landis told me “I proposed last night. It just felt right.” And just like that, our session went from portrait session/proposal to engagement session. Life is funny like that. A person suddenly feels like half of your whole, moments “feel right”… and all seems good in the world.

Google Reader No Mo’….

Sad day in the interweb world… Google Reader will cease to exist after July 1st. My fondness to my Google Reader is beyond words, having streamlined the way I keep up with all my favorite blogs (and there are quite a few of them). CNET has suggested 5 alternatives and hopefully one of them works out. I’m going to try out feedly and let you know. I’m skeptical, and totally feeling like I’m stuck my ways, but like all changes… we must go with the flow.

NYC Engagement: Addy + Ken

Addy and Ken were super chill right from the start. Addy is originally from Oklahoma but clearly has made New York her second home. We talked about our favorite spots around the city and how there is so much to do… it was basically a day of non-stop chatting with a camera in hand. Ken, an avid skier, would like to one day take Addy on the slopes but she sees herself more as a chilling-by-the-fire-with-a-cup-of-hot-chocolate kind of gal. Originally our plan was to go to a couple of places around the city. But when it snowed so elegantly here in NYC, we decided to take full advantage and capture their engagement shoot solely in Central Park. We had so much fun in the fluffy snow, who knows… maybe one day Addy just might step into some ski boots. But for now, she’ll just stick to super cute boots and a sparkly coat (courtesy of her awesome mom with great taste).

Hello weekend!

Last night I had a date. Not with the hubs but my super awesome girlfriend. I love that girls can say that… “girlfriend.” It’s a fun play on words. Sure, she’s my friend, who is a girl but boy, oh boy, is she way more than that. She catches me with her words when I’m falling and laughs with me when times are good. Our conversations go all over the world from career choices, old crushes, to dreams and hopes. Love comes in all shapes and sizes… it’s knowing how to accept and learn that you deserve it… that’s the challenge. Her kindness inspires and calms me. I lurrrrrve her

If you’re in the areas in the US that’s getting blanketed with beautiful white snow, take it in… it’ll be over before you know it.
